The Bon Secours Health System in Virginia is employing a progressive approach to communicating with its patient population. This health system created mybonsecours.com, an online patient portal that enables patients in Richmond and Hampton Roads to find a physician, search for online health content, check symptoms and perform financial transactions.

At the heart of the portal is a mybonsecours personal health record created by NoMoreClipboard. This PHR is branded to Bon Secours, and retains the same look and feel as the rest of the mybonsecours portal. The PHR is sponsored by Bon Secours, and enables patients to create an online PHR where they can compile, manage and share their health information.

From the PHR, patients can quickly find a Bon Secours physician and send their PHR to that physician in advance of a medical visit. The mybonsecours PHR completes and delivers the registration forms used by Bon Secours practices, so that patients can avoid filling out a clipboard full of medical questions when they arrive for an appointment.

The mybonsecours PHR is also integrated with online health content. Patients can search for more information on medications, illnesses and conditions entered in their PHR, and are linked to health content from the Healthwise Knowledgebase.

The mybonsecours PHR will also be integrated with Bon Secours practice management systems, electronic medical record systems and the MedVirginia health information exchange.
